// Concern fasters 2009

Secondary schools

We were delighted to see some of the country’s best fundraising secondary schools at our cinema days in Dublin and Cork. Unfortunately, we were not able to have everyone there but Colaiste Phairsaigh, Gaelcholaiste Chiarri, Dunshaughlin Community College, Rathcoole Community School and Colaiste Eanna attended. Thanks everyone for all your enthusiastic fundraising.

Rwanda

Dunshaughlin Community College were the winners of a trip to see Concern’s work firsthand. Christina Phelan and Shane Dowling, with their teacher Sheila Ryan, travelled to Rwanda at the beginning of July. They’ll be writing a blog for us about their trip. Keep an eye here.

Primary schools

Blackrock National School in Louth also had a visit from an author David Donohue from Children’s Books Ireland. He congratulated them on their fundraising efforts. While there he spoke about Concern’s work.

And the winner is...

Thousands of you fasted and raised amazing amounts of money to help children like Gloria.  We’d love to thank you all but unfortunately we just have two prizes.

So, congratulations to Bea Neary in Mayo who won a gorgeous Fairtrade hamper full of delicious goodies for raising over €100. Bea has been supporting the Fast since 1995 and is one of our best fasters!

 Tim Buckley in Cork has also been fasting for several years now. This year he won a weekend away for raising over €500! Well done Tim, we hope you enjoy your weekend of relaxation.
